Register as auto-entrepreneur for Vinted in 2026: the step-by-step guide

This guide is for people who buy to resell on Vinted and want to get compliant. If you just sell personal clothes you no longer wear, this doesn't concern you — you're exempt under the personal goods regime.

The essentials in 60 seconds

You buy to resell on Vinted? You must register as auto-entrepreneur. Here's what to remember:

  • You go through the INPI one-stop shop (formalites.entreprises.gouv.fr), the only entry point since 2023.
  • You choose APE code 4779Z (retail of used goods).
  • You receive your SIRET within 2 to 4 weeks, free of charge.
  • From there, you declare your revenue monthly to URSSAF (12.3%), keep your sales ledger, and make an invoice for every sale (a Vinted sale is a distance sale).
Free creation, 20 minutes online. After that, you enter the real time-consuming part: tracking sales, invoices and the URSSAF declaration. Bleam handles it from your Vinted sales: invoices, sales ledger and the amount to declare each month.

Why you need to register right now

If you buy items to resell at a profit on Vinted (thrift stores, clearance, marketplaces, dropshipping), you are legally a professional seller. It doesn't matter if you do 10 or 100 sales per month. The question isn't "should I register", it's "do I register before or after the audit".

Since 2023, the EU DAC7 directive requires Vinted to transmit each year to French tax authorities the list of its sellers and their revenue. Transmission thresholds are low: 30 sales OR €2,000 annual revenue. If you reach either, your data is already known — and the administration automatically cross-checks with your declarations (or their absence).

What happens if you don't get compliant
Retroactive tax reassessment up to 3 years (10 years in case of fraud), 40% surcharge (bad faith) or 80% (characterized fraud), URSSAF back-payment + penalties, and up to €500,000 fine and 5 years imprisonment for repeated tax fraud (Art. 1741 CGI). Registering takes 20 minutes. Getting caught costs thousands.

The 4-step process

Since January 2023, all auto-enterprise creations go through the INPI one-stop shop. The old autoentrepreneur.urssaf.fr portal no longer accepts creations. Here's the real process, in order.

The 4 steps to follow

  1. Create your account on formalites.entreprises.gouv.fr · 5 minThis is the official one-stop shop website. Register with your email, create a password, validate your email. Have on hand: scanned ID (both sides), proof of address less than 3 months old, bank details (not mandatory at creation but handy).
  2. Fill out the creation form · 10 minYou declare a natural person (sole proprietorship), tick "micro-enterprise regime". You choose your APE code (see next section). You indicate your activity address (your home, that's allowed). You choose your social fund: it will be Independent Workers' Social Security via URSSAF automatically.
  3. Choose your tax options · 3 minTwo critical choices at this stage: your URSSAF declaration frequency (monthly recommended to start) and your liberatory income tax option (1% extra to settle your income tax at the same time — activate if you meet the conditions).
  4. Validate and submit the file · 2 minYou sign electronically, you validate. The file goes to INSEE (for your SIRET), URSSAF and tax authorities. You receive your SIRET by email within 2 to 4 weeks on average. Sometimes faster, sometimes a bit longer depending on the period.
Total cost of creation
Zero. Creating a micro-enterprise is 100% free. If someone offers to "take care of everything" for €150, it's a scam — it's as simple as what we just described.

Which APE code to choose for Vinted

The APE code (main activity exercised) is assigned by INSEE at creation. For Vinted resale, there are two possible codes depending on your actual activity.

Possible APE codes for Vinted

4779Z

Label
Retail of used goods in stores
Use case
Second-hand resale (thrift, vintage, consignment). The most common code for Vinted resellers.

4791B

Label
Distance selling via specialized catalog
Use case
If you sell new items (buy-to-resell new products, brand surplus, clearance).
In 95% of Vinted resale cases, 4779Z applies. You're not locked into this code for life: you can change it later via your INPI portal if your activity evolves. The important thing at creation is to pick the one that best matches what you do today.

Options to activate at registration

Two choices to make at registration time. They directly impact how much you pay and how often.

Declaration frequency: monthly or quarterly

For a reseller just starting out, monthly declaration is recommended. It smooths URSSAF payments (you pay monthly what you owe) rather than having one big quarterly hit. You pick the frequency at the start (quarterly must be requested within the month after you begin); it applies for the calendar year and can be changed for the following year by requesting it before October 31. Tip: at high volume, some prefer quarterly to have more cash flow available — but it requires discipline.

Liberatory income tax payment (1%)

Very useful option: instead of paying your income tax separately in May N+1, you settle it directly with your URSSAF contributions (+1% on your revenue for merchandise resale). It's final — no adjustment the following year. Simpler, more predictable, and often advantageous if your household pays income tax. Careful: if your household isn't taxable, you'd pay 1% tax for nothing — compare before opting in.

  • Condition: your N-2 reference tax income must not exceed €29,579 for a single person (€59,158 for a couple) — 2026 option threshold.
  • The option is ticked at creation OR before September 30 for the following year.
  • If you exceed the threshold one year, you lose the option the next (back to standard regime).

What awaits you after getting your SIRET

Congratulations, you're officially auto-entrepreneur. But the legal part doesn't stop there — that's where the real administrative daily grind begins.

Your obligations from now on

  • Declare your revenue every month (or quarter)On autoentrepreneur.urssaf.fr, you enter what Vinted has paid you for your sales, that is the item prices: shipping and buyer protection aren't paid out to you, and since October 2026 neither is the shipping VAT, even with a Vinted Pro account. You automatically pay the contributions. Mandatory even for €0 months — a miss = €60.10 penalty (2026).
  • Make an invoice for every saleA Vinted sale is a distance sale: an invoice is mandatory, even when the buyer is a private individual (service-public, page checked on August 7, 2026), and it is for a business buyer too. Each invoice carries the expected notices (your name followed by "EI", your SIRET, the buyer's name, the item, the price, your VAT notice), a number with no gaps, and is kept 10 years. Every sale also goes in your sales ledger. And since September 1, 2026, every French business, sole traders included, must be linked to a certified platform to receive electronic invoices; on September 1, 2027, micro-enterprises move on to issuing e-invoices and e-reporting their sales. Bleam links you at no extra cost from Bleam (bleam.app/en/help/facturation-electronique).
  • Declare your income once a yearIn every case, you report your annual revenue on form 2042-C PRO in May. Without the liberatory payment, it's taxed after a 71% flat deduction (merchandise sales), according to your tax bracket. With it, you enter it in the dedicated liberatory-payment box: it counts for your reference tax income but isn't taxed again.
  • Pay CFE in DecemberBusiness property tax: the amount varies with your municipality and revenue (minimum base set by the municipality). Exempt in the year of creation, halved the 2nd year, and nil if your revenue stays at or under €5,000. Payable online on your impots.gouv.fr portal, by December 15 at the latest.
The point that becomes unmanageable fast: tracking sales
At 30 sales per month, that's 360 lines a year in your sales ledger, and as many invoices, numbered without gaps and kept 10 years. On a spreadsheet, that's several hours a month, with an error risk that grows with volume. That's why resellers doing volume use a tool.

Bleam generates these invoices from your sales, numbered without gaps, with the VAT notice of your regime: Invoicing · Generate invoices for your sales. To make it yourself: the free Vinted invoice template, in Word and PDF.

Preguntas frecuentes

How much does it cost to create an auto-enterprise for Vinted?

Zero. Creating a micro-enterprise via the INPI one-stop shop is 100% free. Sites that ask €150 or €300 to "take care of everything" just fill out the same form you would. After creation, you pay URSSAF contributions on your revenue and, from the 2nd year, the CFE (which varies with your municipality and revenue, and is nil if your revenue stays at or under €5,000).

Can I be employed and auto-entrepreneur on Vinted at the same time?

Yes, it's perfectly legal (Art. L1222-5 Labour Code). Just check your employment contract doesn't contain an exclusivity or non-compete clause. Your salary and Vinted revenue add up in your annual tax return: compare with and without the liberatory payment, it's advantageous if your household pays income tax, costly otherwise.

How long until I receive my SIRET?

Between 2 and 4 weeks on average. Sometimes 1 week if you get lucky, sometimes 6 if your file needs a supplement. You receive your number by email, and your status is officially active from the creation date indicated in the file (often the 1st of the following month).

How do I generate my Vinted invoices automatically after registration?

Vinted doesn't provide invoices. An invoice is due for every sale: a Vinted sale is a distance sale, and an invoice is mandatory for it, even for a private buyer; it carries the expected notices, a number with no gaps, and is kept 10 years. With Bleam, you tick the sale and the invoice comes out with your SIRET, the EI notice and your VAT status; the sales ledger and the URSSAF summary follow. To make it yourself, our Vinted invoice template is free, in Word and PDF.

What happens if I exceed €203,100 annual revenue?

You exit the micro-enterprise regime after 2 consecutive years above the ceiling. You switch to actual BIC regime with full accounting requirements (journal, annual balance sheet, accountant almost mandatory). It's another world — but you're far from it, focus on the basics first.

Do I have to pay VAT from the start?

No. As long as your revenue stays under €85,000/year, you benefit from the VAT franchise base (Art. 293 B CGI). You don't charge VAT to your buyers and have no VAT declaration to file. You just need to mention "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI" on your invoices. We cover the next step (switching to standard regime) in a dedicated article.
